A dual citizen (USA / EU), spends his life between New York and Madrid. Fluent in English and Spanish.
Fell in love with photography at an early age, after purchasing his first camera, a Pentax K1000.
Upon finishing high school in Spain returns to New York city to pursue an uncertain career at the time. Spends a couple of years in college, while also carrying his first jobs (Lab Technician, Yellow Cab Driver, Chauffeur, Import and Export, amongst others).
His first contact within the creative industry came in the 80’s while working at the mailroom of legendary advertising agency Ally & Gargano (thanks Kiki). As well as the first time he stepped into a film set, during a commercial shoot with director Patrick Kelly (thanks Corky).
Convinced on becoming a craftsman and eager to get his hands on equipment, decides to drop out of college and to continue his training in the field of media. Takes several courses at School of Visual Arts and later receives a TV Production diploma from the Center for the Media Arts.
Returns to Madrid in 1991 to work full time with acclaimed Spanish photographer Alejandro Cabrera. Assisting on fashion and advertising shoots, traveling around the world, meeting top models and celebrities … who could ask for more?
In 1995 starts freelancing with several production companies, working his way up the ladder in production; from runner, location scout, assistant, coordinator, production manager to producer. Very grateful to the two companies that have influenced him the most during his beginnings: Tesauro (thanks Susana) and Setama (thanks Laurent).
It is in the field of “production services” where Luis finds his niche, and where he has dedicated most of his efforts since the year 2000. Up to today he has worked full time at three different production service companies, two of which he was responsible for setting up and launching internationally.
